Soccer
Arghh.... Ouch! Played soccer ytd. Nao my toes hurt. Shall blog about yesterday.. quite eventful after the common tests ended. Okay.. went for some soccer yesterday after invitation by Eugene on FB. Was supposed to be last week but postponed to ytd due to JC2 common tests. Met up with Eugene and the others at Bukit Panjang Soccer Court. Wow.. didn't notice there was such a huge recreational area just opposite Bukit Panjang Plaza. Seen the building before, but didn't realise what it was. Court there was already taken by other guys so we had to move off to another soccer court a few bus stops away. Waited for a little while for some others to arrive and we set off. Arrived at our destination and saw that the court there had also been taken. After that 5 of the others went in to play with the guys already in the court. But was kind of phail! Got owned 3-0. Then we left. Decided instead to play in a open grass patch a few blocks away. Goals were marked out with our bags and we started to play 5 on 5. Basically the game went on fine, all the running and blocking. Only thing was that the grass patch was a little uneven and so wasn't that smooth moving around. However, did manage to get possesion of the ball a couple of times. As usual though, I always passed it on to any team mate who was in range and open. Anyways, the only interesting, or rather quite unfortunate, incident that happened was that I kicked a tree root really hard somewhere in the middle of playing. The thing was that the ball landed somewhere near our goal and the other players were still quite far off. Seeing as I was near the ball and had a good chance of scoring, I kicked the ball hard towards the goal... OUCH!!! The ball didn't really move and was taken by the other players who had rushed over by then. My toes hurt... really hurt.. excruciating pain! After playing till about 9 plus, some left for home liaoz so we moved to the void deck. Played 3-on-3 then. Was much more interesting playing in this new venue although apparently we are not supposed to do so. Due to there being many walls at the void deck, the game became less predictable. For instance, you could be dribbling the ball towards the goal when suddenly, a wall appears right in front of you. See, very unexpected! Then you lose possession of the ball. Moreover, if the person dribbling the ball goes behind a wall, then it becomes unexpected again as you wouldn't know which side of the wall he will be reappearing from. Hahas... really fun. Wow.. what a day. Check my phone only after we stopped playing and realised that John had missed called me. Omg!! Forgot that he would not be able to locate us as we've changed location. No wonder he didn't join us. Zzz... so sorry manx! Forgot to check. Left for home at about 10 plus and rode a bus to CCK Mrt with Ganesh.

J2 Common Test
Hii all, just finished with common test today. Yup, that 's the first major exam that I took since I became a JC2. Thought I'd blog about the past week of exams.
Monday (21/03) - Had H1 Physics paper today. As it was the first paper after the one week March hols, was still not very confident when I sat for the paper. Besides, did not really feel that I had done enough revision for the paper. Been focusing more on my other H2 subjects so kind of neglected my H1. Still, had to sit for the paper, so did some last minute cramming just before the paper in Discussion Room 3 again. Had only one invigilator this time around. Hahaha.. half way through the exam, heard snoring behind me. Seriously, loud snores! I thought to myself.. Omg, the invigilator fell asleep! Decided to wake him up after a while as the time for my exam was ending soon. Hahas.. so good of me huh. In order not to embarrass the invigilator, and not to be accused of cheating, I decided not to go up to him to wake him up. I decided to make use of erasing some errors that I made on the exam script and shook the table. That worked. The loud noises woke the examiner up and he felt a little disorientated at first I think, cause there was a short moment of silence. When the exam ended and the invigilator came to collect my script, he had the sleepy look on his face... Lols!! Such an experience, this is the first time lols.
Rushed home after the exam to do revision for Chem. Meeting Chem teacher for consultation tomorrow. Gotta look up some questions to ask her!!
Tuesday (22/03) - No exams today. However, going to school still, having consultation with for Chem. Did my revision ytd and had come up with lots of unclarified doubts. However, did not know if those were stuff were very basic and I would get told off for not even knowing those fundamentals. Therefore, was unsure whether to clarify those doubts. Decided to just continue with my revision of Chemistry and come up with some questions so that at least I can be seen to be doing some work. Actually, it was due to me having the feeling that ppl like Marisa, Eileen and Jordan would have attemped the Chem tys and be clarifying doubts in those areas. That was why my doubts felt really insignificant. However, turned out that it was only just me Jordan and Ming Yang who turned up. Furthermore, the questions that they were asking were pretty much similar to mine, from the previous Chem Test 1 and 2. Therefore, was able to clarify most of my doubts, almost all actually. Was more confident for the Chem paper after the consultation. Always thought that I would be quite hesitant in clarifying doubts during Chem consultation( long story why..) , but to my surprise, everything went really smoothly. Looks like I can go for more Chem consultations after this, been avoiding Chem consultations and pushing unclarified doubts back since the start of term. That's why had lots to clarify this time round.
Got back home sllightly earlier than I had planned and set down to work on Econs and Maths immediately. There was really not enough time for me to finish studying both subjects, but I had to at least do some, right?
Wednesday(23/03) - One hell of a day today. Had both Econs and Maths today. First up was Econs. Suprisingly, Econs went quite smoothly for me. The essays for Paper 2 were not really difficult and I was very much satisfied with the essays that I wrote. Another reason why I am so confident of my essay was that somehow, I finished the whole paper (ie. three essays) with at least 15 mins to spare. That was quite suprising as I usually have a lack of time for my Econs essays. As a result, I was able to check through my essays. Paper 1 was not too bad as well. Managed to complete it within the time given.
After that went to look for the other guys. Just took out my phone to contact them and they saw me. Turned out that they just got released as well, probably due to the collection of exam scripts delaying time. Went to Lot 1 for lunch then, as our Maths paper was at 2pm and it was barely 11am. Had Pepper Lunch at the food court which came with curry. Something new on the menu I guess. Got back to school after our meal and did some last minute revision for Maths. Turned out that it was not a good idea as the more we revised, the more we realised how much we had missed out in our revision and started to panic.
Well, then again, Maths paper was not really satisfactory as well. Was able to complete the first half of the paper with relative ease. However, from Question 7 to 11, had problems recalling how to do those questions. Attempted though, but with very horrifying results... uncompleted answers in other words. Maths paper ended at 5.45 so had to rush home to revise Chem. Very little time left for a huge load of content.
For today though, the last invigilator that came in were both my Subject Tutors. So had a little pressure towards the end of the paper. Somehow felt Maths ST had the feeling that I had problems with the paper. LOL!!
Thursday(24/03) - Yup! That's today and the last paper of the Common tests. Had Chem today. Not very well done as well I felt. Studied alot for Organic Chemistry but there was only about one or two questions on Organic Chem. Managed to complete most of the other questions as well though not very confident of the answers. Lucky for me though, I decided to do Nitrogen Compounds as my last revision right before the paper. Indeed, as I expected, it came out. The first question. Therefore, I was able to complete it easily with all the reaction conditions and equations still in my head. Had little problems with the deduction question as well. Think I had the compounds figured out correctly. Was able to write most of the equations as well as the type of reactions. Hopefully I'll be able to pass Chem!!
Haiz.. for now, seeing as common tests are over, going to slack abit. Going cycling nao that I've finished this post. Tomorrow will be slacking again and got to be in school for a briefing for Alchemist Club. Evening's been taken up by soccer with 4D at soccer court at Bukit Panjang. Probably going to make a fool of myself there, but who cares! Common tests are over already. It's time to party! Opportunity to meet up with good friends as well!
ciaos!

Remedials... Consultations...studies...
Kk... ignore the posting date. Re-editted this post and reposted it on Saturday 19/03...
Tomorrow will be the last day of holidays liaoz. So far had been to school on all days except Thursday and Friday.
Monday had an Econs lecture where we went through some essays that will be coming out for the common test. Mostly Market Failure essays which were mostly quite familiar but may require some revision to be clear of the concepts again.
Had an early lesson again on Tuesday. Same as before 8am in the morning got to school. Physics this time. Went through some MCQs which again I didn't manage to complete, though I did do some but must have fallen asleep doing it so didn't complete...After that had Econs consultation with Ms Chang. Started later than planned coz she had lessons before. Went with Ming Yang and basically went through our recent check- point test on Multiplier. MY had consultation after me and ended after 4pm. Went home straight after that.
Wednesday was Econs again, lesson this time though. However, went earlier as I had scheduled a consultation with Ms Chang again at 8am in the morning. Got there ahead of time and started revising first. Then when she arrived, clarified all my doubts that I had since... the start of the year?? Hahas.. Did a last round of revision during lesson and lasted for about an hour, shortest lesson so far... haha!
Didn't go to school on both Thursday and Friday. Firstly was coz there were no lessons and I didn't see the need for a Maths consultation on Friday although there was a slot (from 12.30 to 3.30) that was scheduled by the Maths department for us to have consultations.
On the other hand, had to fetch my younger sis to and fro Bugis for some tuition on both days. Therefore, spent my Thurs and Fri afternoons downtown at Bugis. Quite relaxing actually, having three hours all to myself and free to roam anywhere I want. Anyways, had some revision to do for the common tests so didn't really wander, only just for lunch. The rest of the time I stayed up on the fifth floor of the shopping mall where it is quieter and cooler, thus more peaceful. Then listened to my handphone's radio. Shiok!!
See, had a really busy week. Didn't have much time to do some stuff that I wanted to do for some relaxation like cycling, bowling and such. lols... Didn't even manage to get some time off for a packet of Ruffles. Haven't even bought a packet yet coz dunno if I'll have time to eat it. Hopefully will be able to enjoy one next week after common tests end.
Hmm... thinking of going gyming after the last paper, that is Chem, on Thurs. There's no school on Friday coz no papers then. Haven't checked with the other guys if they wanna go gyming on Thurs as well. Will check with them on Monday.

Updates...
Term 1 of 2011 has just ended with the start of common tests. Therefore with the one week break ahead, lots of studying and revision and work to complete in preparation f0r the rest of the common test.
Anyways, have to return to school during hols as well. There's Econs lecture on Monday, Physics on tuesday, and Econs lesson on Wed.
There's also cip on Monday with Alchem Club as well.
Bz hols eh? may have very little time for cycling or bowling though. sianz...
Hoping to get some time in for mahjong as well though chances of it looks slim. May be that I can only play with com le, hahas.
In school, finally managed to keep up with tutorials le. So far been completing tutorials in time for lessons. However, still lots on revision for Econs to be done. A little behind on the concepts being taught.
Had our last lesson for Soft Ball on Thursday. After common test will be starting training for NAPFA le. Till now, chin ups still quite a problem for me. At most I think can only do two. Even though so, trips to the gym have proved quite useful. Developing some muscles already... hahas!
yeah... NAPFA will be important this time for us guys. Determines if we get to spend two months less in NS hahas. hahas... training's gonna be tough!
Skipped Wild Empire practice for today and will be doing so again next week. Better spend a little more time with my books for this period of time... hahas. Anyways, things are going quite well for me in Wild Empire. Getting to know people there better and slowly getting used to singing again. Most importantly, found the joy in singing as a choir since I joined WE.
On a last note, know that I've been posting less these last couple of weeks. Been kind of bz due to studies of course but will try to update more frequently.

GP Common Test
Start of common test today. First paper GP. Got to school slightly later but made it through the gates in the nick of time. After assembly, which was at our exam venue due to wet weather, arrived at Discussion Room 3. Yeah.. my personal examination venue for the whole duration of the examinations. As usual. Turned out that Mr Siraj and Mr Ong, my former secondary school teacher, were invigilating me. Paper started at 8am exactly and I looked at the first question.
Immediately there was a great urge to start writing as everything I had memorised last night and earlier this morning came to mind. " 'A globalised world presents more opportunities than challenges'. Do you agree?" stared back at me.
However, I tried to hold back the urge and read through every question to see if there was any other question that I could do better. Finally I settled down to plan my essay for Question 1.
One of the reasons I finally settled for that question was of course that I had done some researching on globalisation both this morning and last night and was thus more confident of writing a good essay. I even memorised some stats and facts which might help. Another reason was that the question was quite straightforward with not many pitfalls as I see it. The only pitfalls that I could see was that the scope might be too narrow and the arguments are not linked to challenges and opportunities but just rambling off pros and cons of globalisation. Both of which, I can quite safely say, I did not fall into. At least, I did try to cover a wide scope discussing various countries across the globe and linking my arguments to how they were opportunities or challenges. I also remembered and tried to keep my sentences short so as not to make mistakes in sentence expression, which have been quite frequent in my recent essays, resulting in low language marks. Thus, not able to score very well on the whole for P1. Hope this helps to increase my P1 grades.
Hmm... can still rmb my points quite well. Started off with a definition of globalisation in the intro of course. Slipped my mind a little but thankfully, after some thinking managed to recall the gist of it and came up with a good enough definition. Then started off with opportunities.
Point 1: Globalisation enables greater interaction between people from various countries across the world. Thus, this helps in the understanding of different cultures and greater knowledge of the world as a whole. Then I cited examples of sporting events such as the 2010 World Cup and YOG.
Point 2: Due to greater convenience in transporting of goods and people across borders, businessmen can relocated their businesses abroad so as to reduce cost and thus retain greater profits.
Challenges
Point1: Globalisation results in increasing income gap between rich and poor countries. Where richer countries draw resources and revenue away due to increasing development.
Point 2: Living in a globalised world results in events in one country afffecting other countries very quickly. Cited SARS.
Hopefully the points and examples are valid.
Gonna work hard over the next past week to be this confident of all my other papers.Cheers!

A levels Release of 2010 results
Today was the day that I've been waiting for for a long time. Gonna get our H1 Chinese A level results. School ended early today, at 12.30pm. Then the whole cohort of JC2s headed to the hall to witness the previous batch of JC2s getting their A level results. Turned out that the results were pretty good and there were many top scorers and most improved seniors. According to the school, this is also the best result since the introduction of the new syllabus in 2007. Indeed, seeing as there were many A's and B's.
After a long wait, and much clapping, it was finally our turn to get our H1 Chinese results. We gathered in another classroom and our results were handed to us one by one. Throughout this time, all I could think of was "... give me an A, I would get an A right?" This was in vain though. Somehow, in the back of my mind I knew that it was more likely that I got a B. And indeed, a B I did get. The whole class passed I think, with few of them getting A's. Chee Koon got an A and Jordan passed with a D. Well done.
Somehow still feel a little dismal that I didn't get an A. The B is kind of useless actually. Kind of like I didn't take also. Just stick with my Hmt grade. Well but seeing my classmates rejoicing at their grades still feel happy for them. Especially...
" Is that a B? Is that a B? I got a B! I got a B!" Hahas...
Oh but there's still PW grades though. That I really want an A. All the hard work me and my group have put in throughout the year, that sure warrants an A, right?
