Keeping up with JC2 life

Posting for the week of 11/04
Lots had happened that week. Totally sianz...
Shall blog about some of the more sianz ones.
Firstly, much to my dismay, I was late twice in just this week. YES! TWICE!!
Well, that means that my quota for being late has been reached. All in a week's work! Hahas.. one more time late and I'll have detention. Not very good for my SGC at the end of the year lols.
But the records can't be erased, hope it's not reflected too badly lols.
So what happened? Well, I have been making it a point to leave the house earlier, like about 6.30am so that I can get to school earlier to maybe do some work before morning assembly. Therefore been making an effort to get out of the house earlier. Somehow that didn't work. Got to school even later than usual?!! Sianz...
Even after the first time I was late, which was Tuesday, I told myself that it could not happen again, that I have to get out of the house earlier. Partly also due to the fact that I had given my word to the Principal, who happened to walk past and notice me, that I would not be late again. I noted though that those who ran to the gates in a huge group did not get their EZ- Link cards scanned(meaning they were not considered late). Those of us who came in one by one got our cards scanned. Hence I took note to run with the majority. However, to no avail!
Lols.. immediately the next morning, was late again! Did run this time, but still got my card scanned. Twice le.. cannot be late anymore... haiz!
Well, of course I could blame the bus service, which is really unreliable during peak hours. However, I still think that much boils down to ourselves lol. Should get out of my house much earlier and stop lazing around despite waking up early. Seriously though, I would need to catch a bus before 7.20am. Literally, there are no buses after that time. That, despite that I can take 4 different buses to school from Choa Chu Kang MRT station. Sianz...
Second point. Lessons are speeding up once again. This coupled with the fact that the content being taught is becoming tougher and requires more time to comprehend and internalise. Hence, this has resulted in me lagging slightly behind in my studies. However, still able to keep up with some of my subjects, despite lectures and tutorials being a little rushed. At least for now, H2 Economics and Chemistry are still within grasp. H1 Physics is still quite okay. Still able to take time to clarify and understand the concepts as tutorial time is generally much longer.
However, the problem comes in the form of H2 Mathematics!! Since the start of Statistics, I have been having problems keeping up. Topics like Binomial, Poisson Distribution are tough to understand, despite me having consulted on it and reading through the notes. Somehow still dun quite grasp how it works. The questions are also really complicated. Haiz.. got to work more on it I guess, maybe by attempting more questions? Sianz... as a result, falling behind on Maths tutorials. Still, decided to take it at my own pace and look tutor up for consultations after I've done my tutorials.
Next, SPA(Chem Practical Exam) is coming up soon and we've had two practice tasks so far. Still not been able to finish the whole practical on time. Despite knowing that I'd be given more time during the actual practical exam, I still feel that I'm a little too slow. Still have more than half the practical not completed by the end of prac. Kind of worried as it is. Haven't had the opportunity to attempt the last question of the prac worksheet.
Hais... Sianz!!
Lastly, the weather's been really bad this week. Been raining every day after school, or rather throughout the day actually. Therefore, me being one who does not like to use the umbrella since I find it troublesome, I had been drenched to the skin. Twice! This was despite me having an umbrella in my bag lols. Just too lazy to take it out! Hopefully the weather becomes less wet in the coming weeks, otherwise i may then consider taking out my umbrella then.

NAPFA test -- REAL ONE THIS TIME!!

Had the real NAPFA test just yesterday. Yes, that means I did all the 6 stations together. Managed to pass with an E for two components and failed the other four. Hahas.. managed to only pass sit- ups and 2.4km run.
Considering that I had hurt my knee just 6 days before this and it was on the mend, was quite acceptable a result for me. Anyways, was not planning on passing all the stations. Weather was good for the 2.4km run though, which I think helped. By this I mean that it had been pouring halfway through the NAPFA test and thus the test was stalled. Had to wait for the rain to reduce to a slight drizzle before we continued. Thus, we had a longer break between our 5 stations and the 2.4km run than the 15mins that was supposed. Furthermore, the drizzle was quite cooling as well which also helped. Don't think we'd get such favourable conditions should we do a retest.
Well, but that doesn't mean that I'll have to spend an extra 2 months in NS since I didn't managed to get a silver for NAPFA. There's going to be retest for all the stations that we've failed or hope to get better results in. However, we need not do all 6 stations together for the retest which will probably make it easier. Going to train more now that my knee is getting better and hope to clear all stations and get at least a silver, if not a gold, by July. Will have to retake all the stations for the retest though. Not very good results for any of the stations.
Really going to have to put in more effort into this.
That's two months less of NS I'm working for mind!

Mock NAPFA

Posting for the week of 11/04
Had a mock NAPFA practice during PE on Friday that week. Was for us to have a feel of taking all the six stations at one go. Somehow did not turn out well.
First station was Sit ups. Could only do 35 and stomach muscles started aching already. Stopped at 35 then, couldn't at least get an A. By then, as we proceeded on to the next station, I was already starting to feel a little breathless, much to my surprise. I was only on the first station!
Moved on to Standing Broad Jump and Sit and Reach with equally devastating results. Phailed SBJ again as usual. Still dun noe how to jump so far, dun noe how to train as well. Jumped a 180cm only. Phailed!! S and R managed a 35. Failed? Passed with E? Not very sure. Not a good performance as well.
Didn't do well for SR as well. Actually expected lah! Already breathless by now and passing SR had always been by a slight margin. Chin ups did only 1. 2.4km timing was a 14.43. Not Good!
All in all, need much more training before the real thing in just a couple of weeks. High chance that I'll fail the NAPFA test then. Another one or two weeks training is just not enough. Hais...

To my readers...

Hahas, seeing more and more tags on the tagboard now. Thanks to all of you who have been leaving comments and commending my blog. If you have requested for me to visit your blog, maybe leave ur blog's link on the tagboard as well? Cheers!!

Well, lots been happening recently. Hahas.. hence the decrease in frequency of posts here.
Will try to update on most of them, if not all, in the coming days and weeks.
Here's the list
-Mock NAPFA
-PTM
-Wild Empire
-Choir Gold
-Keeping up with JC2 life
-NS Sign up
Had a long weekend this week due to Good Friday. Therefore, finally managed to sort out some worksheets that have been lying on my table for quite some time already. Hmm.. managed to clear off some work as well which was quite helpful.
Hahas, to my delight, realised that this was just the start of three consecutive long weekends. Yup.. next two weekends will also be three days due to Holiday in lieu for Labour Day on 02/05 Monday and Holiday in lieu for Polling Day 09/05, also a Monday.
Therefore by the end of these three weeks should have loads of revision done and ready to take on the MYE's.
Plan is, first week, ie. T2Wk5, sort out all my revision material. second week, T2 Wk6, start structured revision and T2Wk7 finish up revision. ciaos!

It's Term 2 Week 5 alr and MYE is drawing nearer...

CT results

Recently just got back Common Test results and PW grades as well. Well, both were not up to expectations lolx. Okay, CT results first. Didn't manage to pass all my subjects again.. Got an S for H2 Maths. Well not really unexpected, if anything at all thought it might even be a U. Still, know that it wasn't really a very well done paper so wasn't expecting high grades... but still hoped to get at least a pass. Anyways, what made it worse was the fact that I got 44%!! just one more mark and it would at least have been an E-- a pass! U for Chem again. Been studying really hard for my Chem paper but to not much avail though. However, sure do feel that the links between Chem concepts are much clearer for this CT. Furthermore, managed to memorise Organic Chem conditions and reactions much better this time round. Should be able to do better for the Mid Year Exam.. NO!! MUST DO BETTER!! With more understanding of more concepts and more hard work. E for Econs and GP. Quite disappointing actually, despite a pass. Not very good passes too though. Was actually having very high hopes for both the papers. Made some improvements though, I felt. At least my essays were much longer and had more content, especially so for my GP essay. However, problem this time round was the lack of elaboration in my essays( for GP) and some wrong causal links in the elaboration( for Econs). Going to clear up wrong concepts and do more practice for the essays. Hope it helps. Finally, a D for Physics. Nothing much to say for this. Could have done better I guess. Then again, grade was not really very unexpected. Therefore, all in all got a USEED. As a result, got myself packed with lots of remedials, packing my Mondays and Thursday to the brim. Econs and Maths remedials on Mondays mostly and Chem Clinic which is held on both Mondays and Thursday, depending on our schedules. Zzz.. suddenly became very busy. But still, the compulsory Econs and Maths remedials have allowed me more opportunities to clarify my doubts. So it's not too bad.
Really got to start working for better grades now. About 8 more weeks to MYE!! Really fast huh?

PW results

H1 PW results came out yesterday. Got a B lols. However, was not too upset by it as I sort of expected it already. Most of the other members from PJ086 got a B as well, only exception was Alan. Not very surprising. From what I had pre-calculated, our group would be getting between 65% to 70%. The determining factor? OP lols. The other components we had much control over and had ample practice and revisions. Only OP really depended on one's ability. Anyways, seeing as at least one of us got an A, the rest of the group couldn't have scored too low a B right? At least now PW has finally come to a close, with reasonably good grades. Finally can heave a sigh of relief.. phew!

10S13 ROCKS!!

Adrenaline still pumping... Today played another match. Was a relay this time around, with a JC1 class. Seems that Pe teacher was quite satisfied with our tug-of-war yesterday and confident of us now. This time around though, I was not confident of winning. Same view held by the others of course just that I felt the same way too this time. Were to run five relays. - 4x100 (Boys) -4x100 (Girls) -4x400 (Boys) -4x400 (Girls) Lolx.. due to our class having only 5 guys, and Chee Koon didn't want to run, I ran lor. 4x100 was first. Seriously, I did not have an ounce of confidence at all. Firstly, I had never run in a relay before and so was not sure of what to do, how to pass the baton...etc.. Anyways, the whistle had to be blown and so I started running.
Before I started though, received two instructions from two separate pple: "Just try your best" to which I said "Okay"
Then, " Don't give face ar!" To which I also said "Okay" immediately. Then I wondered how I was going to achieve both?
Got off on a good start and just sprinted all the 100m and then passed the baton smoothly. The JC2's got a head start already! Even though it was just 100m sprint, I was still feeling breathless. So you can imagine just how long I've not run and how poor my stamina is. I sat down and took a short break before my 400m "sprint". Seriously, I did not know how I was going to sprint that distance and be able to be ahead of the JC1 competing with me. The best I had been able to do was take the first 200m at a jogging pace and cover the last 200m just letting momentum take over and sprinting all the way. How... Again I was the first runner. I started off with longer strides so as not to waste energy. It worked. Kept me in the lead. When I covered about 200m, my arms started feeling numb le. Sign that I was running out of energy. Nearing 300m, I was starting to lose my balance!! Lols.. lose my balance when running? Seriously, now that I think of it is kind of funny. I've never lost my balance when running. As a result, was slowing down a little on my last 100m back. Fighting really hard to keep my balance and continue at my pace as well. Was ahead of the JC1 boy all the way until I passed my baton to Alan, then fell behind by a little. However, was sure that the other guys wun have any problems closing that distance. Still 1.2km to go. At the moment I stopped running, I became fully aware of just how breathless I was. My arms and legs were aching and numb. Felt a little giddy too. So sat down and got butt cramps. Sit or stand oso cannot... sianz.. Went into the washroom and stayed there for a while. Started perspiring profusely and after a little while felt better and got outside again. JC2's had already won 4 out of 5 of the relays and were on the medley relay le. Won that with relative ease as well. Was really euphoric after that. Two wins straight in a row for 10S13... Jiayous 10S13, you can own A levels!!!

Tug-Of-War

Played tug-of-war for PE on Thursday. Hahas.. played an inter class match with S22. Wanna noe results... read on...
When the idea was brought up for us to have a tug of war competition with the class, my classmates opposed it greatly. Mainly due to there being a strong guy in that class. However, as I didn't really know that guy so I took a neutral stand. Was also quite ready to go with the idea of a competition as I enjoyed playing tug of war. A little while later, we had split into teams and stood ready on the field. S13 against S22. We were to play 5 rounds and each of the teams were to run around the track the number of times that they each lost, after the game. When the command was given to pull, we pulled! Without much effort on my part, other than standing my ground, we managed to win this round. Guess it was partly due to me standing right at the end of the rope that pulling was much easier. Getting a feel of the game we formulated a strategy: To pull only when the other team relaxed and to stand firm when the other team was pulling, so as to conserve energy. It worked! With relative ease, we won round 2, 3 and 4!
Up till now we had been competing with a mixed team, guys and girls. However, S22 challenged us for an all guys competition. Lolx.. our class has only 5 guys so bo bian, we remained a mixed team competing with an all guys team of S22.
This time round though, there was greater resistance. Certainly an all guys team was much stronger. I even thought that we might need to run one round if we did lose this round as we were forced to advance nearer and nearer to the middle mark. Then we changed our strategy, to stop focusing on pulling but stand our ground. At least defend if we're not able to attack. When we felt that the other team had relaxed a little, we just pulled all the way to victory!!
Won!! All thanks to the team work of S13! As a result, didn't need to run any rounds. Really fun.

Feels good, the joy of victory!

April Fool's Day 01/04

Today is once again the 1st of April, April Fool's Day. Hmm... come to think of it, its also the two year old birthday of this blog le. Yup, this blog was started two years ago on 1st April 2009.
